Daystar Cradles on Dakar Leaf Pack

Dang haven’t been around here I a while, because the truck is just soooo goood.
But it needed an upgrade as we have an all terrain camper on the truck 80% of the time.
Old man emu full kit all around. Had wheelers assemble everything including extra leaf on the Dakar pack. She’s a bit of a stink bug stance right now but should settle down.
So the question; the bracket on the Daystar cradles no longer touches the axle tube, bottom of pic attached you can see the mark where it used to touch,and it needs new bolts.
So has anyone used the cradles on a much thicker leaf pack? Bolts are easy, just concerned about the bracket being secure enough.

I understand your plight. If you are handy and have a grinder or drill press and hole saw, you can get a piece of 1/4" plate, grind or drill a crescent shape to match the axle tube, then through the plate in the same pattern as the holes in the bracket. Attache the plate with some bolts and you should be good to go.

I don’t have those things but may have access to them, didn’t think about just bolting a piece to it.

It would take an afternoon to uninstall the bags and install a RAS. I'm fairly certain it will resolve your current problem and ultimately meet the same overall requirements. Just wanted to throw out an alternative.

 

I'm curious to see what you come up with as I just went with longer SS bolts. I saw the same thing and my thought was that the primary weight is on the leaf pack itself, but my load requirements arent too significant... about 500lbs static, and 250lbs off the hitch (dirt bike). So I wasnt very worried about it when I installed my dobinson's HD leafs last summer.

For what its worth, no issues for 7-8 months for me
