I have a 2017 Tundra 1794 crewmax....has anyone figured out a way to add backlighting to the dash inorder to make it easier to see during daylight hours with headlights off or in auto position? Some days I can't see the gauges. This is the first vehicle I have owned that does not have the backlighting. Any ideas or suggestions?

That adjusts the brightness of the lights but only when the headlights are on.....looking for a fix to have dashlights on when the headlights are off

My day driving lights are those amber ones and there's not a way to shut them off, and this works even when the regular lights are off..I don't know if that makes a difference

I'm following this thread... I have the DRL's and my dash does not light up with the headlights off. I've adjusted that knob but only works with headlights on. I wonder if there is a factory setting that can be tweaked with dealer computer.

Never had much issue with the instrument cluster, but I do have issues seeing the radio screen with my polarized sunglasses on. Also the back-up camera screen is much brighter and clear when the headlights are off. I usually turn my headlights off when backing into the garage at night.

After further investigating..dash lights only come on when lights are on..that knob adjust the illumination for the info screen only when lights are off..everything when lights are on..I have an Aftermarket radio that allows me to setup different light settings for when lights Are on and when they are off..I only had the factory head unit for a very short time so I couldn't tell you If it had the same function or not. Usually one have to enable the dimmer function and set it to auto then set the day function to when lights are off and night to when lights are on.. Resulting in brighter screen during the day and dimmer at night..toyota provides a dash light wire on the radio harness that is used to trigger this function..
