Dan’s 2021 SSM Limited CM Build Thread

Build thread for my 2021 SSM Limited CM. I'll add photos and more details over time.

I purchased this truck new in Hillsboro, Oregon on February 25, 2021. My wife and I had grown tired of tent camping with our two daughters and two dogs so we had placed a deposit on a RV trailer earlier that month and I needed a tow vehicle. This truck replaced a 2008 Honda Odyssey that I had been driving since I had the short commute (or no commute due to COVID) while my wife was driving my 2008 Honda Pilot. I traded in the minivan and brought home the truck in the Oregon drizzle.

Prior to the Pilot and Odyssey I owned as 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo to which I had done some slight mods but mostly repairs to keep it going (new radiator, new water pump, seat swap, tires, etc.). I used a Jeep forum for much of my knowledge of that vehicle so I found my way here to Tundras.com with the purchase of the new truck.

Like most, I said "I'll not really make any changes" but then you start seeing threads from others and the rest is history.

Interior:
Front window tint Xpel to closely match rear factory tint.
Rear windows and windshield with clear Xpel film for UV.
Center console organizer.
Husky floor liners front and rear.
OEM wireless charger.
Dual USB rear seat chargers with relocated 12v socket using 3D printer plate from @Chelly.
Rear seat ballistic nylon seat cover for kids and dogs.
Touchscreen protective tempered glass screen protector.
Driver side grab handle add.
K&N cabin filter. Reusable and cleanable.
ESP aluminum full length underseat storage.
Garmin Mini dash cam with power from rearview mirror.
Last US Bag Company visor Molle panel.
Black vent ring covers. 3D print version from @ToyoMafia.
TRD Pro shift knob, black.

Exterior:
McGard tailgate anti-theft lock.
Boost towing mirrors with rear flood lights, switchback, and self-painted color matched caps.
Bedbug with tailgate protection.
Black Softtopper.
Hot tails LED taillight upgrade.
OEM tailgate power lock.
Rear diff breather mod to behind driver taillight.
CaliRaised ditch lights and brackets (currently not connected).

Suspension/Tires:
Eibach Truck Stage 2 coilovers.
Coachbuilder 1/2" shim on driver side.
Coachbuilder front bumpstops (all four).

Great! Check out RCI skids/sliders. You will like the BedRug and the HikeIt X9. I have had the X9 now for a week. Lovin it!

 

CBI in Idaho makes decent skids too. Comes down to shipping cost.

 

My X9 is due to arrive tomorrow. My kids already love it when I put the truck in Tow/Haul mode, they call it rocket ship mode! Looking forward to adding the X9 to the mix.

 

I was mostly using S mode and occasionally utilizing T/H mode. Not necessary anymore!
