I just finished the ball joint job and lost the bolt that holds the abs sensor wire at the top of the knuckle and looked everywhere for it. Once I zip tied the bracket and went for a test drive I found it. 894BC940-2309-4ADF-9018-AB5E6EA4DAE7.jpg Unfortunately, it got jammed between the caliper and the wheel and cut a groove like a damn lathe. Guess I need a new wheel now. Sheesh

It’s got to be at least half the thickness of the wheel. So glad I have a full size spare to use till I can afford a new wheel. Currently accepting donations.

Also, I researched my vin and found out my truck came steel wheels with 245/70/16 tires and now it has aluminum with 265/70/16 tires. Hmm…

I like the aluminum much better.99F9F46C-425F-4581-A4F3-4E8BC3EEBA87.jpg

I'm no expert, but maybe a wheel repair place can fill that groove in with something.
I'd be curious to how the thick the wheel is there, might be thicker than you think.
    Good luck..

Where are you located? I have 4 nice rims I need to get rid of, just don't have a use for them. They're yours if you want them.

This is exactly what I was going to offer up. I went down this path before realizing a PO bought a matching full size spare already. eBay is the easiest place to score single reconditioned or used OEM wheel in nice shape in the $75-175/ea range.

That sucks….if funds are tight just buy a cheap replacement and use it as the spare. At least until you can better afford buying a new matching one.

I would feel lucky that it was just the wheel that got damaged - good thing it didn’t rip apart the caliper or any other stuff

It’s surprising to me that there was no squealing screech that could be heard as it ground that groove :monocle:

Yeah it did make a sound. I pulled over less than 100 feet after I heard it.

My spare is 265 so I’m using it till I get a new one.

I’m gonna check the junk yards around here for a new one.

You could always roll over to p-cola and grab these jokers: https://pensacola.craigslist.org/wto/d/pensacola-toyota-tacoma-rims-3rd/7412762649.html

Although these for $150 is a decent deal... https://pensacola.craigslist.org/wto/d/pensacola-2006-toyota-tacoma-17-inch/7399937100.html

I'd be all over this were it near me, $300: https://tallahassee.craigslist.org/wto/d/calvary-4runner-wheelstires/7413251727.html

Or if you wanted to stick w/16s here, $250 with good tires off 2003 Tundra (but 'taco whlz): https://tallahassee.craigslist.org/wto/d/wacissa-r16-6x55-aluminum-wheels-tires/7403180873.html

Crap, I am a little too far from you to make it feasible. I'm in Cheyenne, WY.
