Crewmax Platinum Longbed

I ordered a Crewmax Platinum longbed (6.5) on November 6th and my dealer can't give me build date. He just keeps saying Toyota has your order but has not assigned you a truck.
Is Toyota making these yet? I haven't seen anyone post any pics except the ones used to show the press. Any sean in the wild?

 

That is a great combination. Definitely the best of both worlds.

 

Will be a great truck. Too bad it wouldn't fit in my garage.

I've seen a lot for sale on the 22 Tundra FB page.

 

Where are you located? I also am interested in a crewmax with the longbed and I have spoken to several dealers here in central Florida and they aren't able to get the longbed for some reason. All longbeds are available on a DC only. I'd rather have a crewmax with a short bed than a DC with a longbed. So I don't know if its a regional thing but if I want a 1794 crewmax longbed I am probably going to have to find it out of state... So not sure where you are located but doesn't look like any dealers where I live are being allocated crewmax longbeds.

FWIW, in some systems that I'm seeing, "longbed" means "8' bed" which is only available in DC; either 5.5 or 6.5' bed are available on CC. I've got a deposit on a Limited CC with 6.5' bed, and while they're rarer than 5.5' beds, they're coming into the PNW.

 

You can’t order one. I think what your dealer is trying to tell you is they haven’t been allocated any similar to that yet.

 

I've ordered a platinum 4x4 6.5' bed the first week of December. I still have not been allocated one according to the dealership in Auburn Wa.

 

I get that. no special order, just in the system for something close.

 

I can echo this that you can’t “order” as far as I know, so the dealer should be more transparent about that.
Dealers typically find out about every two weeks what their next allocations are going to be (and I’ve even talked to some dealers who have had 0 tundras in 1 or more of said allocations). So either way there is no guarantee. I just put a list of things I wanted and the dealer called me with each allocation to see if any of their upcoming tundras would be acceptable as none were 100% of all the things I wanted.

 

I had this convo with my dealer. I put a deposit in May for a long box and still it hasn’t arrived. When I recently called I said that I was open to even a short box platinum and they chirped up saying that the long box was the issue - they had platinums arrive in a short box but there were no allocations for long boxes as of yet.

There is no platinum badging on the truck. Also, the box length is a 5.5 according to the tech specs. So not sure what information is correct and what is not... can't really trust a dealers website as I think they primarily use place holders and stock images.

I couldn’t agree more, Wind Chill looks clean. I know the truck has left San Antonio via rail last week. Klamath Falls as you saw is pretty remote. I live about 80 miles to the West. Can’t get your hands on any Tundras for months locally.

 

Like my original post states, I Ordered 11/08 with Longo Toyota and still don’t have a build date. Just waiting…
