I would try to recreate this again (with windows rolled down). Seems really strange. My truck won’t lock if I use the sensors on the door handles and the key in the center console.

Did you try putting your finger on the lock/unlock sensor on the top front of the door handle? Also, was it raining? I often have the doors lock/unlock when washing the car if the water contacts that same area of the door handle.

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
One thing to keep in mind is keeping cool. The fob was in the truck, so hopefully near a sensor, and you need to place your hand on the door handle for a few seconds. If you yank quickly, it does nothing.

I wonder if its some sort of wash/wax coating that folks use on their vehicle that keeps an electrical charge and leads to unintended unlock/lock? I am not a nerd so can’t use technical terms but I guess a way to test that theory is to carista it and turn off keyless entry.

Have you had any other door locking issues? My drivers door randomly locks (2023 new platinum).

I did tap the sensor on the two front doors while trying to open. That did nothing.

I did keep cool for the first minute until it sinked in that I couldn’t open the door while and my 2yo daughter was locked in her car seat, locked in a truck in hawaii 90 degree weather.

Then after several more minutes after that, I’m panicking.

I’m sure anyone would lose their cool or it could just be me. Idk…I love my daughter quite a bit.

So glad your daughter was Ok in that hot and humid environment.
-The door touch sensors should not work unless the Fob is on your person/body.
    - The doors should not lock even if closing a manually locked door when a Fob is inside EXCEPT if the doors are locked from inside with a door switch. (you can lock yourself inside manually with your Fob inside with you)
    - Why the truck locked itself and then unlocked 10 mins later on its own makes no sense. Something is shorting causing it to lock/unlock automatically. Could it be the door switch in the door you used to load her?
Was there a second Fob involved ?
    Very odd. Gremlins….

Sorry to hear this happened to you.

Not a Tundra, but a Duramax has done this while we were way up in the mountains. We now have hid-a-keys under the vehicle in case this happens. Have never been able to figure out why or what to fix.

The truck has the nick name of Ghosty Locks.

I changed the batteries in both my fobs for the time being and looking into getting into another vehicle.

I’ve noticed that if a door is partially closed it will lock but not respond to the door handle. Pushing the door that isn’t closed all the way shut enables the door handle.

My wife's Pilot has the same sensors in the door handles and push button start and whatnot. I don't see any reason not to keep the fob in my pocket the entire time I'm using the vehicle.

    2024 Tundra XP
2024 Tundra Xp Quad, One crazy anomaly, at approximately 8:40pm (EST), went to vehicle, which was parked inside my home garage, used remote to unlock all doors (double tap on remote). Opened driver door, partially stepped inside and started vehicle. After start, place key/fob in the small tray on center console, closed door, went back inside to allow vehicle to warm for a few minutes (45 degree
temp). When I returned to vehicle, it was locked tight as a "zipped jacket," engine running key fob in plain view. I walked around entire vehicle to ensure this was really happening (engine running, doors locked, fob inside). Couldn't do anything about it, second key/fob was NOT accessible to on this evening. So the vehicle for approximately 30+ minutes before auto shut-off. I was hoping it would self unlock if the engine shutdown, no-can-do! I ended up having to call a vehicle service to unlock the doors, given I had an early morning appointment to keep. Anyone else with this mysterious anomaly? I do have phone video of the entire event.

Regardless of who posted first his thread has 3 pages. I don’t think there are any solutions on it but sounds like you didn’t know there was another thread before. Not even sure everyone is having the same exact problem.
