My oldest daughter loves to camp, with a goal of visiting as many NP's as possible. We did Glacier in MT a few years ago. Took too long of a break and she'd like to hit there (or maybe Zion?)

Any tips for Crater? Suggested camping grounds? Not doing dispersed as it'll be her and a friend or two. Them in a tent, me in my GFC

Bring bug spray if after the snow melt, they get thick up there.

Thank you, yeah, I'm running a thermacel, permethrin on tents and clothes, and picardin on our person. I use these for hunting. Plus, i have bottles of the Off stuff. I'll have citronella candles assuming open flames are okay at the campgrounds. I even have the insect repellant bracelets. I like to nuke the bugs...

We visited it in 2020 and stayed near Diamond Lake at the RV park there. I don't think there's much for camping on or around Crater?

I don’t have much info on camping grounds there. We stayed in Klamath Falls when we went. We were there in June and half the park was still closed due to snow. If you want to do the compete drive around the rim, wait until at least July. Beautiful park and the water is insane.

Great goal to have. The NP’s are amazing. We’re at 35 so far. Halfway there to 63!

A man after my own heart! You'll be fine then :)

There is some camping inside the park, but typically needs reservations, I wouldn't plan on finding a first come spot. We ended up at diamond Lake to find camping a few years back.

I'm going to second Diamond Lake and the bug spray. I've camped at Diamond lake many times and it's always a good time (for a campground). There's also some really awesome waterfalls if you follow Hwy 138 north from Diamond lake. Toketee Falls is a not to miss if you're in the area.

Sweet, thank you for the info. I'll be looking into Diamond Lake for camping...and packing all the bug killer I can fit!
