what would cause a truck to need a crankshaft position sensor replacement every few months. I installed a brand-new Denso one from Toyota and it worked flawlessly for about 3 months. The old sensor was also Denso. The symptoms are random and intermittent rpm surging/ engine start failure and while driving randomly and intermittently rmp drop off leading to the engine cutting off on the road. I'm not sure what's with it, it a 2015 1794. My scan tool only said there was an issue with the crankshaft position sensor.
