Back in the summer I started the truck after it sat for a couple days and the dash lit up like a christmas tree with the check engine light, traction control light, flashing VSC OFF, and flashing 4LO. I googled the combo and believed it was just a short with an ABS wire on the axle. However when I drove the truck it was in limp mode. Disconnected the battery for a min and lights went away and truck was out of limp mode.

Forgot about it until it started to throw the code whenever I'd go to pass someone on the highway I frequently drive. No limp mode these times though. Seems like usually around 4000 RPM.

Because I was usually 100 miles from a code reader I'd pull over and disconnect the battery again.

Eventually I read the code and it was "P0335 1. Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit 2. Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit(NE Signal)"

Called my mechanic and he said it's likely just the sensor went out and to replace it with an OEM sensor not some aftermarket autoshop one.

Did that. Cleared the code. Tested it and it threw the code again.

Can't get in to my mechanic till the end of November.

Any thoughts or feedback on the problem would be appreciated. Thanks

Of the possible causes listed on code sites, the next most likely would be a bad electrical connection at the crankshaft position sensor or a harness electrical problem. You might try the careful application of dielectric grease to the sensor terminal pins. Apply sparingly...you're just trying to insure a good electrical connection at each pin without bridging across and shorting. If that doesn't work, then the entire harness will have to be traced and checked for damage. You don't have mice in your neighborhood do you?

Yeah I've read that it could be the wiring is too close to a belt and it gets frayed by the belt but I can't find any information online for where the wiring runs through the engine bay. I'll try the dielectric grease. And no mice that I'm aware of and from what I could tell from replacing the sensor its all pretty well tucked up away from the ground. I should also note that my mechanic did the cam tower reseal on the engine at one point during the summer which involves taking a large portion of the front end apart but I can't remember if it was before or after it started giving me the code.

Thanks for the input by the way! I appreciate it

You really need to use OE parts for these trucks, did you buy the Denso one they sell?

Your crank/no start could very easily be the fuel pump control module, which seems to be a common culprit that's hard to diagnose for this situation.
