Currently have OEM Michelin P275/65R18 114T tires on my 2017 Limited 4WD 5.7L DC. Does anyone know if Costco will agree to install same size Load E rated tires with a lower speed rating (R or S)? They say in their Q&A that they will only install same or higher load rating and speed rating. They speed rating seems to go down when the load rating goes up. I intend to go to the store and inquire but wondered if anyone had experience with the question.

depends on the store. I have purchased tires from them before (jeeps) and in some cases they installed what I wanted without question, and in others they would not install. I had to remove the wheels and take them in for them to mount because I was going much bigger than the stock tire. If I recall, I think I told them the new tires were going on a 1/2 ton ford truck rather than my little lifted jeep.

So, YMMV. There is liability for large stores if they install something that is not "approved safe". Larger tires, different speed or load ratings that don't at least equal to stock specs may make them say no....or they might just install and move on.

Worse case, you can probably get what you want installed if you just bring them the rims to mount tires and then install on the vehicle at home.

Considering you are installing stock size, I bet they just install them no issue.

Is there a reason that you want to move to E load in the stock size vs keeping the stock standard load tires?

I tow a travel trailer and would like a light truck rather than passenger tire to handle higher air pressure and provide a stiffer sidewall.

I have purchased 3 sets of tires from Costco over the years (Tundra, 4Runner, Subaru) and have always chosen the tires I wanted them to install. Never had an issue with them.
