Confusion with dealer

I’m looking at a slightly used 2022 SR Crewmax with the TRD SR5 off road package. The badging on the truck says SR5. The dealer says that I’m getting a truck with 389hp and not 348hp. When I look at Toyota’s site for the specs, I’m reading that the SR is 348hp and doesn’t change because it has the off road package (dealer says it does go up with this package). When I decode the VIN is does say SR. Am I missing something? I wish the dealer was correct, but don’t think they are. Thanks for the help.

 

Something sounds off. I don’t think you can get an off road or TRD package on an SR model. Did you pull the VIN off the actual truck? Or was it just the dealer provided VIN?

 

BTW, this is Toyota Canada’s site. The vin came from the dealers site. I’m seeing the truck tomorrow. Based on below it seems the SR5 TRD Off road package is available on an SR build.

Weird. I’m in the US and when you go to the Toyota site and build a trucks, the ONLY package available is the tow package for the SR trim…

 

It is confusing for sure. Good suggestion on the window sticker. I’ve asked the sales person for the window sticker….if they have it. When I price out a new SR with the SR5 TRD Off road I can get it new for $7k less than this dealer wants for a 6 month old truck with about 10k on it. If it’s an SR5 with this package it gets a lot closer in price to new. Guess I’ll find out what they can find.

Canada is weird. TRD Off-road is only available with SR5. Canada calls SR5 a package on SR which is weird. Only SR gets the 348 hp engine.

 

dont listen to the usa people since they are trying to compare usa build/options that will never apply to .ca build/options.

.ca is in a totally different camp when it comes to how toyota builds them. all specs and options and packages are completely nuts. we wish we could get some of your standard features that are options for us and vice versa.

if you really want to see some usa people get pissy, they should look at the SR trims you can get in .ca that you cant in the usa

 

here is the .ca website specs screenshot. you can see that the .ca specs for all trims is 348 hp for the sr model.

 

Toyota Canada's site is all messed up. They show the SR5 as an option on the SR but it definitely has the more powerful engine.

 

The dealer just sent me the details. This in fact has the 348hp tuned engine. So an SR with some SR5 options (SR5 TRD Off Road package). Since they’ve priced it well above msrp, I’m passing.

 

I think the dealer is wrong but ok.

Definitely good to walk if it's over MSRP either way.
