    Hello,
I was hoping someone could confirm that the head room in a tundra is the same regardless if it has the moonroof or not. It shows 39.7” for the front with or without moonroof. Unless I am reading it all wrong. I find it strange that they are exactly the same. vehicles that I have been in in the past with a sun/moonroof have always have had the headliner a little lower to accommodate the moonroof system. I would just sit in one to see how I fit but there is no local inventory right now. Being on the tall side 6’7” is challenging when shopping for a vehicle today. I do fit in a Tundra without the moonroof. Hopefully I will fit in a Tundra with a moonroof. Thanks for the help!

I don't know the measurements but I will say that from having both trucks, when I purchased my non moonroof truck, I felt like the roof was lower. The cutout for the moonroof actually increases the roof height where the moonroof is vs having the solid headliner there. It's just the glass and cover vs the solid headliner with a gap behind it.

You are correct; traditional sunroof/moonroof options ALWAYS decrease headroom. The have to have room between the roof liner and the sheet metal to fit the mechanical bits, plus a slot for the glass to slide into. It is usually less than 2 inches, and frequently only an inch less.

The only way I see them being identical is if Toyota used the same basic headliner set up for both, and only had the cutout on models requiring it. I doubt this, as it would leave quite a bit of dead space above the headliner.

I grabbed a few measurements for comparison sake if someone with a moonroof wants to do the same.

-30.5" from console lid cutout to ceiling
-47.5" from floor hump behind center console to ceiling (I do have a husky floor liner)
-39" from the bottom rear of the front passenger seat cushion to the ceiling. I chose the passenger seat since the height isn't adjustable on mine.

    Hope this helps

I'm 6'4", often wear a hat, and don't think I'm close to touching the headliner.

I'm 6'6" and have no problem either. Of course it depends how you adjust your seat. The way I have it adjusted I have a good 2" to 3" clearance to the headliner. To be honest I don't think I have run the seat all the way up to it's maximum height to see what happens. I am sure I would be touching if I did. I will check when I leave work today. Another factor that will affect your fit is your own body geometry. Some people are tall in the torso, some are tall in the legs and some are a little of both. So if more of your height is in the torso you may be a little tight, however you can recover this with the seat adjustment but this will then push you further away from the steering wheel. All said and done I think at 6'7" you will have no issues finding a good sweet spot.
