I have a 2004 Sequoia with 175k miles. My wife has been driving it but she deserves a new car. I want to hold on to the sequoia though, my child will be needing a car soon. Giving my kid a 20 year old beater appeals to my common sense as well.

However, the sequoia does have some quirks and I would like to work through them. In fact I would like to do an almost complete restore and maintenance.

While I have worked on a number of cars in the past I've never done a full restore back to front.

I was hoping people on the forum could help me create a start to finish sequoia/tundra restoration list.

    Thoughts?

These trucks don't need a lot. How does the frame look? What upgrades have been done? Which critical mechanical stuff have you done, like, last timing belt change? (it's recommended every 9yr or 90k miles) Last shock change?

Also, what's in it for modern amenities? Touch screen radio with hands-free cellular, GPS?

Welcome! You answering Shifty’s prompts will help us narrow down a list. I always suggest people wanting to freshen up a first gen check out this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/the...vestment-‘build’-a-chronological-story.46816/

The OP isn’t on this forum any more but he’s a guru at detailed and systematic maintenance. Generally, all will apply to your vehicle, but of course you can prioritize based on the assessment you provide about the condition your truck is in.

Water pump and timing belt about 50k miles ago. Last shock change about a year ago. There's a little wiggle at speed from.the steering wheel and some electrical quirks. Frankly I'm way better at mechanical that electrical so I thought I would start with a drive train overhaul.

I'd like to overhaul with modern tech and replacement speakers.
