    Hello all!

I have the cam tower leak on a 2019 Tundra with 40K. I have the platinum service plan, so this is covered if I get the work done at a dealership.

I was looking for advice on the best service department of the Denver Metro dealers?

I have a Harrop 2650 supercharger, which I am told will not be an issue with the warranty since it did not cause the leak. However, I believe it needs to be removed and reinstalled during the repair to access the engine. I don't want to create any additional issues, so I want to find whichever dealer has the most experience with modified vehicles / superchargers.

I have seen some members on here that work at some of the local dealerships, so I was hoping to get some advice.

    The options are:

-AutoNation Toyota Arapahoe - I have been told this may not be the best options, but am open to opinions

-Stevinson Toyota East- left a message and have not heard back

-Stevinson Toyota West- spoke to service advisor Scott and he seemed to think the supercharger would not be an issue

-Mountain States Toyota- spoke to service advisor Romi and he also said the supercharger should not be an issue

Any information on these dealers would be helpful, especially from anyone who was been there for service or works there.

I also know many people leave the cam tower leak alone and go 1,000's of miles like that. The repair seems pretty extensive. It is covered under my warranty so I wanted to do it as leaking oil on a 40,000 truck bothers me, but am I opening a can of worms with this? Does anyone else think it is better to just leave it alone and keep an eye on oil levels?

    Thanks!

Post a pic of the leak. If it’s enough to drip on the exhaust, I’d do it for sure.

The repair is fairly extensive just due to the amount of work involved. You basically tear the motor down to nothing but the heads and block. But if it’s under warranty…

40K miles seems premature for this type of failure. Is this that common or did the supercharger help push the process along quicker.

Mine has been seeping for 100k miles. Never thought a second about it. Id be more nervous about creating a real issue to fix a cosmetic one

My passenger side was seeping at 5500 miles. I had both sides resealed under warranty right before the end of the powertrain. Driver's side was dry but the passenger side was about to drip on the exhaust.

55k miles now and both sides are dry. Corwin in Boulder did it, but no one wants to do it because the job sucks and pays poorly. An entry level kid did mine and it was his first time.

It’s a machine process error - too little sealant on the back corner of the cam tower. It’s not really related to miles or hard use, per say. Mine also had some rough machining marks in that spot on the cam tower. At 230k miles, it was still barely a weep. Adding a SC didn’t seem to affect it any; it was already weeping before that.

are there specific years that are more prone to the leaks or just a 5.7 specific just a matter of time thing.

AFAIK, no. Maybe later years are less prone, but my ‘13 is mid pack and developed the weep around 100k miles but not enough to really notice. By 200k miles it was creating some buildup but still not enough to drip.

My ‘15 sequoia 5.7 is still dry at 120k miles. Or, it was dry last I checked, but because I said something it’s gonna start leaking… haha.

I thought that shop looked familiar...Boulder was the last dealer I worked at, and my little brother is still a tech there.

And to speak to those asking about how common or early OP's leak is, I've seen them leak and drip before the first oil change. I've personally done about 2 dozen, some under warranty, some under CP.

We bought three trucks from them over the years when they were Larry Miller. My service advisor, who documented the leak early on in 2018, was still there when Corwin took over and did the warranty work. Really nice guy but could not have been more disgruntled with Corwin. Based on what he was saying, he couldn't have lasted very long past my repair.

We were there on a Saturday two weeks ago to test drive a LC. It was a zoo. Lots of parents from CA, TX, and the east coast buying their kids a Toyota.

My family always had good service throughout the years from Stevenson West, parts department is great there too and you can drool over the fully restored FJ 40 they have there in the showroom while you wait. Better than the stealership out here in WA that’s for sure.
