We left Ohio yesterday headed south pulling our 5,600 # tandem axle trailer. I had set the tire pressure at 60 PSI @ 40° F ambient. I make it to Huntsville Alabama where it's 60° outside and my tires are at 72 PSI. The tires are barely warm. That's quite a difference and I'm a bit concerned. The Goodyear Endurance are ST 215/75 R14 and IIRC rated at 2,200 # @ 65 PSI. So with approximately 1,250 # on each tire, I'm no where near max load on these tire.
Any tire geeks know what the max safe pressure is for my situation?

The pressure on the side wall is for cold max psi only. As long as you set the pressure when cold to that, at a maximum (I always run my TT tires at max cold psi) you’ll be fine. They will warm up and the pressure will be higher than the cold max, they are supposed to do that. That pressure is not the maximum tire pressure, just the max when cold.

On average, my 80psi Goodyear Endurance travel trailer tires (two axles, 4 tires, 8k lbs on the button) will rise anywhere between 4 and 10 psi at 65mph. You can certainly see which side is getting sun as well. This is monitored real time with a TST tpms system.

Mind you, the TST alarm doesn't go off until there is a 10 or 12 psi swing in baseline because they expect fluctuation. Also, it is recommended the tires be over inflated by 10% prior to storage, so cold storage, the tires sit at 88psi to avoid flat spotting.

Hope this is helpful. I notice about a 1 psi fluctuation for every 10-15* ambient change with air. Nitrogen supposedly reduces this number.

    Totally normal.

When I first got the TPMS system for my trailer the maiden voyage was a trip up the 395 to Mammoth in August, and I remember being pretty surprised at the rise in pressure and temps.

The tires I had on the trailer then were 50 psi cold max, and the ones on the sunny side got up to about 61 as I recall. The alarm was set to go off at 62.

You're looking more for one tire that gets hotter or has drastic pressure changes inconsistent with the others, if they all rise/drop, warm/cool the same it's normal.

Both the trailer sticker and tire sidewall state the 65 PSI cold. I was just curious what the maximum pressure these tires are rated for. It's interesting to see the sunny side increase and remain slightly higher.
