What is the reference to a "software update " and the specifics?
Not going with timing chain stretch when cold.
Starts and runs great after initial start up.

If a timing chain is stretched then its stretched all the time, cold or hot. Also, wut?

Turns over fine but will not catch on initial cold start
Wait a few and will finally start. Then has no issue all day.
    Has 82k on odo.

What year truck? Does it help if you turn the key to run a couple of times to cycle the fuel pump?

Isn't there an issue with Flex fuel trucks in the cold?

I would suggest using a bottle of BG Products 44K fuel injector cleaner. Available at Napa Stores. This stuff works great and usually only takes one bottle to clean things up and lasts for a long time. I usually put 1 bottle per year per vehicle. And never have a problem with no matter what type of fuel I use.
