Okay I know that every boy in highschool wants to instantly put a cold air intake on my their truck but I only want to do it if it's actually worth it. From what I understand you want it to be a closed box otherwise there wouldn't be much difference. From what I've researched there's not a lot of horsepower to gain from it and there is also a chance of losing some. I don't want to do it if I lose hp as I am interested in getting some better gas mileage. Any thoughts?

Not worth it. I’ve spoke with a handful of people who have experienced no noticeable gains. Unless you want a cool engine ornament, I would get a K&N air filter for your stock air box and call it a day. Just don’t oil it directly out of the package!

Do a SABM and use a Afe dry filter. I am against KN filters. Do your research and decide.

SABM is Stock Air Box Mod.

There used to be a kit for it, but I don't know if you can still get it.

CAI like Tundra's TRD unit are ornamental because the stock box is CAI anyway. If you want more lungs, you have to poke a few holes. Cheap to DIY and it works.

Search function comes in quite handy. This has been discussed prolly more than any other first add-on that owners seem to want to do.

I think you need to do a BMC to fit the extra gas.

    No don't do that....

SABM is your best and cheapest option.

Stillen makes a pretty nice CAI that saves you from cutting up your truck's fender but unfortunately it is only available on 2014+.
