My 2005 is throwing code: PO605. I don't have the Fixed premium so can someone please tell me if this sensor is in the Trans case or elsewhere and what the expected cost might be. I don't want to go into a shop without some idea. Fingerlakes area NYS. Thank you!

p0605 doesn't seem to be the code you're saying it is. Can you doublecheck that's not a typo?

I looked in Toyota's factory service manual, and all P060x codes are ECM related, computer issues, but they jump from p0604 to p0606, p0607, jumping right over p0605.

I need to make some assumptions here, because you failed to mention what engine you have, the V8 or V6. That's sort of important. I'm going to run on the assumption you have the V8, since it's more common. This info below only pertains directly to 2005-2006 trucks.

Note it's P0705 (That 2nd digit is a zero, not the letter O) code indicates is the park/neutral safety switch or park/neutral sensor or "PNP".

It's external to the transmission housing. This switch basically what tells the truck's computer what gear you're currently shifted into.

It may not be bad, it may not need replacement. This code could indicate it's unplugged, the harness may be wrecked or have gunk in it, or it may be clocked incorrectly. Per Toyota's FSM, which anyone can download, there are only three causes for the code:

    Putting those in plain English:
    • "Open or short" - A wire got hacked, harness is unplugged, or connection is bad (corroded plug, melted plug)
    • Park/nuetral position switch is not installed, installed poorly, or not adjusted correctly
    • ECM - your on-board computer is bad, which is extremely unlikely
The switch itself looks roughly like this, fan-shaped.

I'm attaching a document on how to troubleshoot it on your own. Sometimes just checking to see if the connector is OK, no wires are burnt or split may fix the issue!

Here's where it's located, on the '05/'06 V8's transmission, on the passenger side. Look toward the transmission while laying under the passenger front door - notice the grey wiring connector at the 10 o'clock position:
