I have a 2005 tundra SR5 crew-cab with 103,000 miles; 4.7L engine; 4WD and automatic transmission. I am hearing a clinking/ Clanking noise when I backup and sometimes when I turn. It sounds like it is coming from the middle, rear and even the front, but mostly the middle to rear. I have had 3 master mechanics look at it and all I get is “nothing to worry about”. I love my tundra but the noise disturbs me, I want to stop it for before it becomes worse.

Do you have a gopro? If so maybe set it up underneath to try and locate it. Maybe u-joints?

Thanks, I actually thought it could be the front u-joint, but as I said in my post the 3 mechanics say the u-joints are fine.

Random possiblity, think it could be the spare tire retaining chain swinging around and clanking off the wheel/truck? When I punctured a tire and had my spare on the chain clanged around

I thought that too but it wasn’t.

    Thanks
