So I noticed the other weekend that on my 2006 DC my climate zone nob is off by 2. If I have it set to to defrost it is on "feet", if it is set to defrost and feet it is actually blowing face and feet, and if it is set to feet it is blowing just face. Also if i put it into the 2 left most positions it just springs back to the feet setting. I went in to the box for the know and it looks like all the teeth in the right place so I don't know what to do next. I've looked for solutions on here, but the closest I've been able to find is issues with the heat control. Normally an issue like this wouldn't bother me but im in MN and I go to School in ND where defrost is critical and right now I don't have it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit - After toying with the control cable down my the foot pedals I've gotten it to where it it now one off of what it was set to. So I now have access to "defrost and feet" and I can still not turn it to just face.

Just to be sure, the knob being used for that function is indeed in good shape….the knobs plastic shaft receptacle is not cracked, allowing knob to simply rotate with noaction ?

If it helps, this is where the gears are located relative to each other when I have shaft fully CCW for face position.

I figured out last night what the issue was. The cable had slipped out of the clamp mentioned in that diagram in the 3rd pic. After following similar steps mentioned in that diagram I was able to fix it. The only thing is that I didnt know that you could clamp that down and instead I put a few wraps of electrical tape to thicken it up and it seems to be working as a short term replacement.
