Lately I have been hearing a clanging sound while driving from the passenger side of my Tundra. It sounds like two metal pipes hitting each other. I only notice it when going slower speeds (under 30 mph). I haven't narrowed it down to any other thing. It doesn't really happen while braking or accelerating. What should I be looking for as to the cause?

    Editted to add
It is not constant and it is not like every x seconds.

    Thanks
    Sean

    Too many, but not enough....
Do you have a skid plate? are you sure its around 30 mph or much slower than that?

Are your front strut top-hats torqued and not loose? There's x4 screws on top of each strut...easy to check...

The heat shields on the catalytic converters are prone to making a metal on metal sound intermittently. I removed mine and cleaned them up, removed rust from the bolts, applied anti seize, and put everything back together. The noise hasn't come back since.

While it may not be the culprit on your truck, it's worth looking at during your process of elimination.

Had a buddy who had a loose running board that clanged every now and again.

So I finally found out what the problem was and it is really funny. I went to have my tires replaced. When I went to pick my truck up they handed me a broken off TPMS sensor and said they found it in one of my tires. Even funnier is I recently had all the TPMS sensors replaced. I guess they didn’t find it when they replaced the sensor.

Just came back from a half cross-country road trip to Texas and on my way back heading to Santa Fe I noticed a clanking sound also(almost sounds like two copper pipes hitting each other). I thought that maybe it was just that I was driving over loose manhole covers. Well shortly after my TPMS light turned on and I have been unable to reset it. For a couple days I was thinking that it might have been a nut or a bolt that fell into my crossmember when I was removing my skid plate but then started to realize that the noise was more consistent at slower speeds. I put the TPMS sensor light being on and the slow speeds together and figured it may possibly be a broken off sensor inside the tire which led me back here to the forum to see if this is a common issue or has ever been an issue at all and appears it is in this case.
Well I just jacked up my truck rear and spun the rear tires around and all seems fine so then I jacked up the front and sure enough it's the front passenger TPMS sensor that is broken off.

    This is my video...

Hope this helps anybody that might be hearing the same thing coming from their truck
