Has anyone changed out the chrome bezel/garnish around the cupholders? I have a Limited trim, and it reflects so much light from the sun.
Does the SR5 truck have the same trim piece but in black? I think it's this: https://parts.battlefieldtoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-trim-bezel-588330c060
But I'm not certain if this one is black or if I'd end up with a second chrome bezel...I can't find a 'color' description for the part.
Also would rather buy from Cool Springs if possible @Roman

I'm pretty sure every trim has that in chrome. Most people either plasti dip, vinyl wrap, or paint it.

Yeah I have SR5 and it’s chrome. It can really blind you when the sun is hitting at a certain angle. I see people post about vinyl wrapping stuff.. where do you get the sheets to wrap or what brand is recommended?

Wow! Thanks for this...great call. I may Plasti Dip the cup holders, and then order these AC Vent covers. Then all that's left is the shifter bezel, i believe.

I emailed tufskins and this is what they said. Sounds like we are out of luck for now. I might have to plasti dip too.

I got this off Amazon and wrapped mine. It's pretty damn close in color to MGM. I watched a video or two before doing it and it wasn't too difficult, just time consuming.

Use a flat head screwdriver or a plastic trim pry tool and it pops right out. It's just held in by clips.

Once you remove the cupholder section of the console, you can see five or six chrome tabs that poke out and lock into the bottom of hte trim. Gently pry them back and push the locking part of the tab through the front and it'll come out easily. About a 2 / 10 on an interior work scale. I used some matte black Krylon made for plastic on mine about 3,500 miles ago. If it scratches up and gets to looking too bad, it will literally take me 8 minutes to re-paint it, start to finish (except drying time).

Color match it to the rest the interior. This is the only picture I could find 7CDB8F7C-4BF4-4E86-BFD1-624A92CA8F13.jpg

@Omohundro That is the best option I have seen so far. STAY FAR AWAY FROM PLASTI DIP. The stuff is crap and you will not like the texture.

What color wrap was it called?

So what’s the best option? Krylon? Rustoleum? With a clear coat?

I just hit mine with some 1200 and painted with some black matte I had in garage. About a year and a 1/2 now and no touch up. Careful prying it out you can bend and or break the plastic tabs. I bent one of mine. May or may not make it through another removal.

I’m sure you can find some quality spray paint, look in the oem touch up section at your loca parts store. A lot of times they have good spray paint kinda geared toward bumper repair. It’s good stuff. I did mix a color code in BASF and satin clear mine, that obviously is not an option for everyone. If someone came into my shop and asked me to do one, it would be pricey.

I wrapped mine just so it is more durable. I like to keep a clean interior so I wipe down my interior a lot. I bought 3M 1080 Deep Matte Black Vinyl off of eBay. 5’x1’ is plenty to do all the trim in the center console.

You also need vinyl wrapping tools which I bought off of Amazon. Like others have said, time consuming, but will be the most durable IMO.

EDIT #1: You’ll also need a heat gun.

EDIT #2: I would also like to add that I would probably just spray the chrome trim around the shifter. It is a PIA to wrap and didn’t look that great when I was done. I’m leaving it for now, but will just paint it when it starts peeling.

Is that just a block of foam under the cig outlet bezel, or what do you have going on there?

That looks amazing...I'd rather pay you to do it, no way mine will look this good when I'm done. But I'm going to try it.

Give it a try. This was my first time wrapping. Just be patient and watch a bunch of YouTube videos while waiting for everything to come in. I’d start with the silver outermost trim around the shifter. It is the easiest and a confidence booster.

    Will do, I'll post pics.
Did you do any other interior trim? Chrome around the air vents, for example?

Here’s a pic showing where the clips are, so you know where to pry...
I plasti-dipped mine and it’s been holding up fine for me.

3M makes 3 different types of matte black (Matte Black, Deep Matte Black, & Dead Matte Black). I just went with the middle one. You’ll find it cheaper on eBay. I paid $11 for 5’x1’ from MetroRestyling. I’ll update with a link once I find it. I’m sure the regular matte black will look great.

    EDIT:

    2022 MGM XP-Series CrewMax 4x4
I wrapped mine. I used a metallic gray wrap to match the trim on the dash. My first time wrapping anything so I messed up a little. I have enough wrap left over to redo it.

Looks great. Also, both trims around the shifter will need to have the plastic rivets (I don't know what else to call them) drilled out before they can be removed. I would remove the whole center console (which is super easy) to access all the trim.
