I guess I'm worried it may hurt the paint or clear coat.

I would feel more comfortable dissolving the dried minerals than to buff them off. Now, etched spots are a whole 'nuther problem. Rain usually removes any spotting for me but since I dry my vehicles after washing I don't have a problem. My well water is softer than most but will leave slight marks on the paint or glass.

I use Meguiar's water spot remover.

The Chemical Guys stuff works great on plastics.

I've been dealing with water spots myself. Whats worse is the windows. I've had to start washing and ringing areas at a time. This is even with a ceramic coat.

Bad part is, since we have an actual Chemical Guy retail store In town. I've spent to me too much money on small bottle. Been atleast 15 years since I've washed my own vehicles.

    Just to follow up....

I purchased a Griots G9 Random Orbital Polisher. Never using one, I used a 6.5" Red Foam Waxing Pads, and the Ceramic All-in-One Wax recommended to me from the Griots rep. He said it would last one year.

I started on the passenger side and the combo worked, but not great with the red pad. I tried with the 6.5" Orange Correcting Pads. Big difference. All the water spots disappeared. To my wife’s amazement, it also removed scratches on her Civic. She was happy.

I have also purchased Black pads as recommended by War Machine. I’ll try them in the spring.

Yes to the G9. I have never had one before this, so I have nothing to compare it to. But I would buy it again in a heartbeat. How it compares to the cheaper ones at Harbor Freight, I have no idea. I did get it when I accidentally was looking at the Griots site and saw it was an anniversary of the G9 and it was like almost 50% off. Others can comment on the G9

Yes to the 2-6.5" Orange Foam Pads.

No to the Ceramic All-in-One SPRAY. That does nothing when it comes to “correction” But it is a great for protection. I used the Ceramic 3-In-1 Wax Item#10895. https://www.griotsgarage.com/cerami...WjDKbVE8PsNWIN6LKpHbDjjfKP4FFHPABPm1pyXLLllES

It was easy to use. Apply with the G9 and then immediately buff off.

I did not use the correction cream.

Awesome, thanks. I have a few scratches I'd like to try to buff out and the water spots on glass is the bane of my car wash experience.

Glad you resolved your issue, OP!

To answer your initial question, I have used that chemical guys product. Though it was on my silver Tacoma…. It worked just fine. Took some elbow grease to remove the hard water spots from both the paint and windows. Never noticed any issue to the paint.

I never tried it on my glass. Let me know how that works for you.

One thing I'm going to try next since I try to wash the truck at-home is adda online water filter to the water hose. See if filtering the water helps with spots. Don't have a pressure washer yet!!!!!

Unless it filters out the calcium and has a way to do something with the ions (I'm no water softener expert lol) I don't think it'll make much difference

Just an outloud idea or use my leaf blower to dry, which would make the neighbors wonder what I am doing.
