I really needed a roof rack so I could pick up longer items from Home Depot without having to tow my utility trailer the 100 miles or so.

I didn't need an "overlanding" rack as there is no way my fat ass is going to get into a roof-top tent. Nor will this truck likely ever be used for overlanding.

So, I bought a basic pair of ladder racks for under $100. But, I wanted a platform in case I needed to haul larger items up top. But I didn't want the noise and wind drag of a basket rack. I found the perfect rack on Amazon for $180.

I bought the racks, then installed them, then removed everything, siliconed the holes and gaps, then coated everything with spray-on bedliner, let them cure for a couple of days, and installed everything.

I'm happy with the results! I can still mount lights to the rack, but underneath, and still haul sheets of plywood. Wind noise is low, and I doubt my gas mileage will be affected at all.
