So I replaced the thermostat, 90 bucks at napa, then added new fluid ,, I left a bit in the funnel and let the truck run for like 20 mins to make sure all the little bubbles escaped.

After leaving it run that long in the garage with the man door open, the hoses were definitely hot, and there was steam after I spill/transfer the funnel and left over fluid over to the reservoir lol I also made sure the reservoir was full before I started the truck ,however the hose after my newly installed thermo is still room temp... why

When I initially filled the rad, the fluid in the funnel bubbled obv from escaping air. Then when the funnels half full and I start the truck and it bubbles a bit more, that tells me my water pump is working.. also can see the belt turn the pulley np.

Side note, I think there's an issue with the damper controls in the cab.. there is also a 20 second delay after start up for hvac controls to come online. But that was minor compared to my coolant temp gauge not even closely following oil temp. that's why I'm in this nonsense, I don't have heat to defrost windshield and it's starting to snow lol

But I thought the problem was the thermostat due to my cold hose ... I dont see the cab hvac having anything to do with engine coolant recirculation tho

I think you've posted this in the wrong generation thread going off of the 2010 in your username.

Either way, sounds like you've got some wiring issues with the HVAC cluster. Also, is the jiggle valve oriented correctly in the engine?

Did you fill the radiator all the way up? Sometimes if there is not enough coolant volume circulating the thermostat wont open up. My other thought would be a faulty thermostat or the coolant temperature sensor but if your hose is still room temp then its just not opening for some reason. I would think it's a volume issue

Anyone ever flush their coolant? I pulled the plug at the bottom of the rad and drained, then started the truck to get any left over in the system... how much coolant is there in the engine? I was surprised at how little came out after I let gravity finish doing its job

I drained the block on my 2000, and got some nasty stuff out, but that was an unusual circumstance...

When you're running engine (after the coolant change) do you have the HVAC set to high heat and the fan bumped on to high?

So I took out the water pump, it's fine.. I blew out all the coolant lines there's no blockage. The new green coolant I put in came out gross rusty colour pretty quick.. maybe I'll buy flush/cleaner tomo aha.

Gonna put it all back together and focus on hvac damper servos tomorrow
