I just dropped off my truck Friday for full front Stek dynoshield PPF and ceramic pro application. One of the only downsides I found with my new truck was washing it, I look forward to the ease of maintenance washing once the ceramic is on. I’ve had it done on my other car a few years back and I’m a believer in the stuff for sure

Using the correct vehicle shampoo after ceramic coating is most important, from what I've been told. I was always big meguiars user, no more. Ceramic needs suds (no ph or wax in it). Lady told me Adams Max shampoo, bought that and a foam cannon ($35 total for both), made for ceramic, no spots, no residue (easy on/off). Anyone have a different shampoo (with no ph) that they use? I tried Adams Ceramic booster (use 1 x every 2-4 washes). Spray on and wipe. It adds some added protection, but takes the shine to new level.

Skip the Adams go with carpro reset or a shine supply product.

I know nothing about this. Is this only applicable to newer vehicles? I’ve always just bought polish/wax at autozone. My 2010 looks really good for a 10 year old truck, buuuuuuut it is a 10 year old truck.

Another believer here. Used Carpro for the last year, it can get costly washing the tundra with it. I found a good cheaper soap that would
be another cheaper option for your maintenance washes. Trying using PS Beadmaker after a wash!

Used for three washes and I like it, comes out like shaving cream from a foam cannon. $24/gallon compared to $87.99 4Liter

Not an expert but it might make more sense for a newer vehicle. The finish on a newer vehicle has less imperfections. Imperfections get "sealed in" until the ceramic coating wears off in a few years. The prep work prior to ceramic coating should involve a serious decon and paint correction. An older vehicle could go through the process but the prep work could be a bit more involved.

The cost of having done is a bit much, usually from $400 - 600 and up. There are affordable DYI products available if you have the time and resources.

My 07 that looks a few years newer gets a McGuire's waxing 2-3 times a year seems to keep it looking good enough for me.

I am guessing your waxing regiment is enough to keep most happy enough with a 10yr old vehicle.

BADA$$ beautiful trucks!! Ceramic coating will be in my future for every truck I get! I ordered the Capro echo (want to see the difference) . I appreciate the advice!
Question: trucks looking that good, do you use them to haul / tow? My wife gives me hell for not using it like a truck! My max hauling is 1 pair chest waders and 2 fishing rods!

I have a 07 fj and I didn’t use a long term coating on it. I now use griots 3-1 on the older vehicles it last a long time and is very affordable.

No towing yet. But I haul stuff all the time for home improvement projects. Or for hunting.

check out the detailing section of the forum too if you haven't yet, great stuff going on there for the clean and swirl free freaks :)

great looking truck! yeah, as part of a full refresh of my 08 i just did paint correction, ceramicpro 9h (two layers) and topcoat also full front xpel ppf and rear quarter panels to protect from rock chips, pin stripes and fender flares. still considering to ppf doors. that ish isn't cheap. 10yr warranty so should be good for a bit.

had to wait two weeks before first wash to let things cure but i've got the flares back on since these pics and will wash this weekend.

not bad for 12yr old paint? not a swirl in sight!

I don't avoid anything just because I got the ceramic coating. We are looking for land and I have been through some fairly thick woods, with branches scraping the sides and top. No problems on the paint, though I can see faint marks on the plastic pieces. I haven't tried to buff them out but it looks like they will come out pretty easily.
