Trying to figure out if the center console lid should stay up by itself or not? I don’t see any apparatus to hold it in the open position yet it doesn’t seem logical that it wouldn’t have some kind of a detent to hold it open?

If I open mine all the way, it will stay in the open position until I push it down to close it. Doesn't appear to have any sort of strut though.

    Thanks for your reply.
When it is in the open position does it feel like there’s a detent holding it open? Or does it feel like the resistance in the hinge area increases toward the full open position?
I’m just trying to figure out what is supposed to hold it open since mine feels the same in the full open position as it does more toward the closed position.

For me when it’s all the way open it is up past the 90 degree angle mark. So I think it’s just gravity that brings it back down when the angle reaches less then 90. I do not think there is anything in the hinge that helps hold it open. Hope this helps.

    Yes, thank you.
Mine seems to be exactly at 90° so it takes less than I thought, ha ha, to cause it to fall closed.
    I appreciate your input.

Yes no problem. If open when driving the smallest touch of the brake with bring it down quickly.

I've taken it apart before to realign the hinge. There is a spring in it, not very powerful but that's what keeps it slightly up. If anything it just helps to lighten the weight of it. When mine is not secured it will bounce about 3-4 inches open while driving.

I've come to realize not all consoles are the same. (Sorry I'm new to Tundra's). Because I have a 6 passenger double cab, my center console is a folding design that acts as a center seat back when in the up position or a center arm rest if in the down position. When in the down position, the lid can be opened to access the storage compartment or 'console'.
Since my first post, I've taken the lid off and found the plastic hinge area worn through. It appears that originally the plastic hinge pivots acted as a detent which helped to hold the cover in the upright position.
Anybody know of a fix or even the P/N's of what to order to fix it?
