I'm getting ready to install my shifter surround and cup holder trim piece and I notice that the bottom side of my center console looks different than the one in AJT's video. It looks like my plastic is different to account for the leather around the shifter. Any one else run into this issue on a platinum or 1794? I think I can work around it but wanted to make sure I'm not missing something. Thanks

Top picture is the AJT video; bottom one is my console.

Honestly I might just cover the gate trim and call it a day. I don't mind the silver as much as the chrome.

I've got the same console on my Platinum, and installed both of those AJT pieces about a month ago. Goes on just fine. Just be extra cautious when drilling out the plastic welds and don't ham fist it. I tried to drill as little as possible and also used some small wire snips to cut at the plastic welds. I nicked the leather with the drill bit in a couple of spots but it's covered by the trim so all good.

Just take your time and watch where you're drilling and you'll be fine.

hmm noted thanks - it just doesn't look like the screw hole lines up at all. I could use a piece of plastic to bridge it but would need longer screws. I think I might leave it at this point.

I like the looks of the black trim that AJT offers, but don't care for the look of the faux screws/rivets... whatever you call them. Does AJT have a competitor that offers a smooth black finish, or is the only option to go with wrap?

I'd love to know if there is a competitor offering similar products to AJT.

Their prices are highway robbery for such small pieces of plastic. I know all about R&D costs but charging $25-45 for a nickels worth of plastic is just too much.

I contacted them about sales and their response was they dont do sales or discounts, only possibility would be black Friday but even then its slim.

Yeah, I loaded up a Cart that totaled around $120 and before hitting the submit order I asked myself what the hell I was doing! Ended up putting the money towards the "taking forever" car stereo upgrade instead.

The screw holes aren't going to line up perfectly. There are a couple that you have to wallow out some for the AJT screws to pass through. And a couple of the screws are nothing more than vanity screws.

Sure the material cost is pennies, but the cost to me was spot on for what I got. I was on the fence about the exposed faux screw look at first, but they've grown on me.

I wasn't a big fan of the exposed screws as well, so I decided to go with Tufskinz. It was nice but didn't completely cover the silver like I wanted. I ended up converting everything to AJT and love how my interior looks now! If you look at Tufskinz, you're paying about the same price for a piece of vinyl. IMO, AJT is well worth the money, especially if you have used both like me.
