My shop and I have been trying to get installation instructions and can only find a video (no documents) for their Baja series. It looks like a similar trimming/installation as the Adventure series but this isn’t made explicit. CBI is unhelpful at best

$2500 bumper and 3 months and they don’t even tell you how to put the thing on. No torque specs anywhere (they admit they don’t have any). Just gotta hope the video for another bumper matches your bumper and start cutting body work.

    I am just baffled.

Did they send you all the required hardware? They didn't with my sliders.

This has been my hang up with ordering that bumper from them. I think it looks better than the C4 and I want the full front coverage. But I don't want to find out that whatever dude that does their hardware picking shipped me a roof rack mounting kit when I have the front of the truck ripped apart, nothing fits, and they have zero documentation available.

    Eurodriver,
Thanks for the post. I like how the CBI looks compared to everything else out right now, but multiple posts about their terrible customer service has me waiting to see if someone else will come up with something better.

I refuse to believe that there are people out there that read instructions.

Available installation videos are a huge determining factor in item I buy.

Man i hate that you have had this experience but it in no way is surprising that CBI has dropped the ball here. to relay my experience, i bought some accessories from them over 2 months ago and returned within a week. Still waiting on a refund.

They customer service is so poor and it seems their product follows suit.

Glad you were able to get it all figured out

Between their website being less that useful and lack of instructions CBI is so far down the list of companies I look at

Sucks you had this experience with them. I'm not sure what's happened to them. When I got my Baja bumper, it was a good experience. Though, like you, I had to rely on the video for installation instructions. Some of it was trial & error to get it right. I did find out, about halfway through, that I was missing some hardware. Their support was super helpful. They overnighted the missing hardware to me, and I got it the next day.

I will say a negative about my experience and it was with their Prinsu racks (I have 2). I had to hunt & peck for instructions. They list the Prinsu products on both of their websites, but the install instructions are actually scattered across both sites. The CBI website had install instructions for one of my racks and the Prinsu website had the installation instructions for the other. It was frustrating until I eventually found them and bookmarked them.

I want to get some sliders and a rear bumper, eventually. But, given their lack of consistent support with members and spotty installation instruction availability...I'll probably look elsewhere for those items. I don't regret either of my purchases from them, but I would have trouble recommending them for DIYers. They've got great marketing and solid relationships with trustworthy influencers like RevereOverland (forum member, but I won't tag him) and Max Powell. Just wish they gave the same support to everyday folks.

Pro tip for Prinsu rack shoppers: They offer free shipping on Prinsu products from the Prinsu site, but the items tend to be higher priced to cover the shipping. The same products are on the CBI site, but with paid shipping. Shop both sites. Depending on when you shop, if they're running a sale, it can end up being cheaper on the CBI site even with paid shipping.

Strange that a company would release any product for sale to the public without the supporting technical documentation to help with installation. CBI is the only company I know that is consistently guilty of that sin. If you look on their website, many of their products for sale lack supporting install instructions.

Thanks for that reply. That sucks, but mirrors my experience with their sliders (incorrect hardware shipped and the only available hardward list they put out is for the crew cab) . I like the way their bumper looks better than the C4 but I think that C4 will get my money when I upgrade.

Haha, I appreciate the sentiment. I imagine there's someone with a double-cab in your area that can use them. What did you end up replacing then with?

haha. I will 100% take them off your hands for a fair price, but I don’t think you’re anywhere near me.

Well...yes, that's true. I'll let you know when I have my next road trip toward the east coast. Might take a detour to snag them! We were just in VA & NC back in November so it might be a while.

I'm just guessing you're either Midwest or East coast based on the cattle/pasture pics you've posted. The pics remind me of the cattle farm I grew up on in OK and nothing like the "kingdom of dirt" I currently live in here in NV. haha

The ol' CBI dopamine hit lol. I'm surprised you didn't put IR LEDs in. Your truck looks good.
