Cat Shield - 2022 Tundra

Does anyone have any experience with the Taco Tunes cat shield for the 2022 Tundra?

From what I can tell, this company primary makes audio components with mixed reviews. However, the plate seems sensibly designed and reasonably priced.

Any thoughts, including alternative suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I ordered a Cat Shield for my 2022 Tundra yesterday from Taco Tunes. I had a lot of questions which Josh answered quickly. I ordered with the security button head star pin bolts. Taco Tunes sent more pictures to answer my questions. Attached is the latest improved design which I ordered. They expanded the the rear of the plate to improve the rear bolt support and security from thieves with saw blades.

I was just answering the original question: Does anyone have any experience with the Taco Tunes cat shield for the 2022 Tundra? No problem. I found Josh at Taco Tunes to be very helpful. Plus Tacos are my favorite food. The shield plate arrives Monday so I will see about fitment, protection, and installation.

 

Hope it all works out for those that buy one from them.
But there is a reason you can't post a link to their website on this forum..
Their customer service on shipping rebranded audio items are very hit and miss.
But they make a great door speaker adapter..

Thanks for the advice. Did not order any audio equipment. Will see how their shield plate works. Looks good and straight forward to me. But I am just a retired mudallergist.

 

Yes, it would be hard to screw up a metal plate.
If it is already shipped that is certainly a good sign.

Installed their shield a few days ago. Works great and customer service was also excellent.

 

Are the still shields from Valhalla stainless or regular steel? Up here in the salty roads of Canada, steel is a death wish.

Anyone know of someone producing stainless shields?

 

Steel or aluminum. And you can get it power coated.
Just ordered mine. 540 after taxes and exchange with shipping. Powder coat. Pentagon bolts.

 

Thank you, everyone! This is all really helpful information. I'll take a look at Valhalla Shields as well. With that said, it's great to see that taco tunes is quickly turning orders around.

 

Installed the Taco Tunes Cat Shield today. Delivery was 7 days from when order was placed. Ready to go traveling and not worry about easy access to the catalytic converters. I used the security bolts with star pin heads.

 

Bought it and installed it this past Sunday with their security bolts. Install took 20 mins max and gives me peace of mind. I have no quarrels with the product.

 

Looking at shields for my 2017. Do you have to remove the shield to service the transmission. I did not know Taco Tunes had shields. I may have to check them out. I have their amp and harness and no issues other then trying to make a tuning CD.

 

Just ordered the ¼” shield with welded sides from Valhalla with their stainless octagon bolts.

 

Thanks everyone. After looking around more, I’m leaning towards the aluminum cat shield from Valhalla. Specifically, the 3/16” bare metal version with the pentagon bolts. Do people recommend spraying paint, or some protecting coat, around the bolt holes to avoid galvanic corrosion? I plan to reach out to @Classy63 with the same question directly.

You will need a zinc chromate primer for aluminum

 

I ended up installing the Talon's Garage shield over the other ones. From the images I've seen, it appears the others are not as thick. The Talon's is as thick as the TRD skid plate. Plus I like supporting fellow veterans.

 

anyone order from Valhalla and pay with PayPal and get a call from the fraud department making sure it was legit? I got sketched out for a minute but I think all is well

 

I ordered from Valhalla. I’m not concerned - they guy is active on these boards and seemingly lots of people ordered from him. I got the ¼” with welded seams.

I have the Valhalla shield on my 2022. Works great and I don't have to take it off during an oil change

 

I am guessing it would have to come off for tranny service

 

I have had numerous transactions with Valhalla, never a problem. Buy with confidence!

 

This could happen if there were failed login attempts. My guess is that someone attempted to sign into your PayPal account and Valhalla just happened to be the next transaction you did. Just a guess but in the IT industry, this is norm.

 

I have a cat shield for sale; it's the one from Desert Eagle. It's used but in good condition; paint is not in it's original form since I used it for over a year before trading in the truck (2021 Tundra CrewMax). Let me know if interested.

 

Have you ordered the shield yet? I’m shopping around and lots of people recommending Taco or Desert Eagle but you can’t even find these guys! I might have to order from Valhalla like you, let me know
