    Too many, but not enough....
That will add about 30 seconds to the 3 minute process. Better than nothing but not by much.

In the video I noticed they used wire ties in some spots. Not quite what I would consider a real deterrent. That perforated is real easy to cut. It cuts like butter or a person could just hook a chain to it and pull, causing even more damage.

That stuff is hard to cut with tin snips that I doubt these scum bags carry around. This game they are playing is about smash and grab. If they looked under a vehicle like that, what do you think they would say? The mounting could be more thought out for sure. But the material and idea is not bad.

I don't recall anyone posting where their cat was cut off with tin snips. They usually use a sawzall or maybe a cordless grinder but no tin snips that I can recall. I have worked with expanded steel like that. It's pretty easy to cut.

It’s definitely an option worth considering if you are on a tight budget. Personally I would not want it on my rig, cause I think it looks trashy. But if it’s gonna save your cats from a thief, suddenly it’s looking pretty good.

I am going to rig my truck so it just explodes if the cats are tampered with. My insurance deductible is pretty cheap. :monocle:

No. No, I probably won't do this.

Self tapping screws is not a solution. Now if the expanded flat was tack welded in place it might prevent a theft. I have even heard these thieves are now carrying several different security bolt bits and getting away with the skid plates and selling them as well. Go figure.

    Wow that would suck.

The socket for the pentagon security bolts that Valhalla sells can be found on Amazon.:eek2:
    I bought a spare socket...:D

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
When my daughter's cats were stolen, there was no saws all used, only a socket, they merely unbolt the units, no cutting, that makes too much noise.

OP - hope that idea works as some kind of deterrent, maybe they'll move onto the next 'normal' one. If going that route, I'd be tempted to use a hog panel.

Yep. It's kind of like home invaders buying bump keys online. You can get a bag of them for 10.00. That is what two guys were using in attempting to get into my house. They had already unlocked the handle lock and was working on the deadbolt when they noticed the homeowner pointing a rifle at center of mass.

Even more shocking was the 100+ lb German Shepherd that wanted to tear their heads off on the other side of the door didn't even phase them.

Criminals aren't known for their intellect. Glad you were able to react. It might have saved your life, and theirs.
