My truck is rattling at idle and its driving me insane. I guess its a good rattle knowing my truck still has a cat under it!

Am I good to rip that heat shield off or should I wrap it with something? Maybe even some sort of clamp to hold it down?

My 08 shields have been gone for 8 years or more.

I do a lot of towing, so I know I run the cats hot pretty regular.

I have noticed no heat thru the floor.

I forgot mine have been gone until you posted your question.

You are right. Those shield are noisy when they get loose.

I wouldn't take it off. It's on their for a reason. I would see where its loose and fix it.

Yes! I also tow some... I do believe there is another heat shield down there as well. I did just find a video on Youtube... hose clamp the F out of it! Going to give this a try and see how long that will last.

I think its spot welded so a clamp should work.

Just getting started.... Start X remote starter.
I did the hose clamps !! I just put one near the front and one near the rear. Lock it down, a couple times per year (oil changes mostly) I just double check they are still snug. It was funny my Brother in laws 09 only rattled on the passenger side when he would slam the drivers door. I knew the sound and issue right away. Bingo bongo some long hose clamps and presto - silence

I actually ended up using this custom length kit, it's like gear clamp on steroids. Peel off the custom length of clamp insert the 2 ends and screw together. It's probably 2x thickness of of a normal gear clamp, I haven't stripped one out to date. Then I bend back the extra and tuck it into where the gear is, so if it does loosen it can only pull back so much. I did it on my wifes Subaru Legacy too, a solid win !!
