Hello all, I am doing the timing belt/water pump on my 4.7 and can easily get my hands on CAT ELC (the red stuff). I am currently running Peak Asian vehicle coolant, but with a good flush would anyone know if it would be OK to run ELC in my engine? If anyone else is running an ELC I’d like to hear your experience. Thanks,

    Josh

Don't sweat over $40, and just cuz you can, doesn't necessarily mean you should..... okay? Good!

The Toyota coolant is an ELC, I would compare the composition of the CAT to the 'yota before using it.

CAT is a nitrated OAT coolant. I would use the Asian Pink/Red instead. This is from a NC dealer site.

Toyota Pink Super Long Life Coolant.

When it comes to the Toyota pink coolant, there are different ingredients such as:

    • Water (7732-18-5)
    • Ethylene Glycol (107-21-1)
    • Diethylene Glycol (111-20-6)
    • Sebacic Acid (111-20-6)
    • Potassium Hydroxide (1310-58-3)
    Toyota Red Coolant Long Life.

Toyota red coolant is one the best car coolants to put into your Toyota. Here’s what is in the Toyota red coolant.

    • Ethylene Glycol (107-21-1)
    • Diethylene Glycol (111-46-6)
    • Water (7732-18-5)
    • Organic Acid Salt (532-32-1)
    • Hydrated Inorganic Salt (1310-58-3)
