Hey guys I need help. I have a 15 crew cab tundra. I recently tried to add bed lights and I was hooking them to the cargo lights. Well now the cargo light and the bed lights won’t work. I have pulled every fuse and they are still good. What could be causing this. Everything else on truck works. The cargo light switch lights up but the light will not come on. Please help.

When you say you checked all fuses, you're including the ones in the cab under the dash?

Even though the fuses look ok or good try changing them out anyways. My wife had a fuse that she and I thought was good but it had a micro crack in it that made it no good, pointed out to me by Auto Zone guy. Changed the fuse and it worked, so I think its worth a try.

As suggested, use a test light or multimeter to confirm voltage on both sides of the fuse. Looks like the cargo light fuse is in the cab. If that checks out pull the bulb/connection at the light and see if you have voltage there.

I changed the fuse anyway and it still doesn’t work. I checked with my multimeter and the brown wire which to my knowledge should be the hot wire has no power.

Micro crack??? If you use a DMM/multimeter to check the fuse it will either be a short (good) or open (bad). What did the Auto Zone guy use to verify the micro crack???

At one point did the new bed lights work with the cargo lights? Or were they not working together from the start?

At first they were working together. Then super smart me had to run to the store right quick and I didn’t cover the wires in the truck bed so I’m sure they rubbed on something.

Where did you tap in for the bed lights, under the door kick panels?

I tapped in where the wires go into the fuse box.

Just because the light is lit on the panel might not necessarily mean that you actually have power to the cargo lights itself. Did you pull the cover on the cargo lamp to see if you in fact have power there?

I have not done that. But the cargo has not worked since I did that. The switch lights up but no light works.

The switch lights may be on a different circuit, along with all the others on the dash that light up when you turn the lights on.

I suggest that you remove the auxiliary lights wiring and restore it to stock and see if the problem persists. If everything is working, start over. If not you will have isolated some of what you have to focus on

I would first start by removing the bed lights from the circuit, and see if the cargo lights start working again. If the bed lights are removed and the cargo light still doesn’t work, I’d check the switch. (Knowing you already checked the relays and fuses). If the cargo light starts working with the bed lights removed from the circuit, I would check for grounds or shorts in the bed lights. Just one step at a time.

I have put everything back to stock and still no lights. Would it be possible that I have messed something up inside the fuse box?

Cargo light circuit is pretty complex..
Controlled in part by the ECU I think.
2015 diagram, maybe it will help you with your testing..

Long shot, but have you checked the cargo relay?

Going back to the basics, did you pull the cargo light cover and check to see if you are getting power at the socket?

I’ll throw the Clark Griswold solution out there just to be safe... check the switch for the cargo lights to make it’s on.

I have checked the bulb and yes the switch is on I checked again to make sure. I’m not by no means an expert at this so where would the relay be located?

That's a bummer. Where exactly did you tap into the circuit, under the dash or under the hood?

Here's the location of the 7.5 amp under the dash for the cargo lamp, did you check this one? Its #6
