I have an early 22, one of the first Hybrids. I can't keep my truck in alignment for more than a week or so. I've been back to the local dealer complaining about it, and they keep telling me my front two tires are out of round, and that's what's causing this. Back two (as you probably suspect) look normal.

I bought my tires directly from Goodyear because I know someone in corporate that gave me a good deal. She told me about 1 in 100k tires is out of round, so when you do the math, the odds are slim that both my fronts are bad. Toyota is refusing to help, and blaming it on my tires. They told me they're so out of round that you can find a flat spot on them with your hand. I would think that would cause a lot of vibration at highway speeds, but there isn't any serious vibration.

When I look at my wear pattern, the shoulders are now almost bare. Truck pulls right. Every time I go get an alignment, it lasts about a week.

You guys have any ideas? My only real plan is buying two front tires (because the shoulders are starting to get really bare) thorugh Toyota, make sure they do an alignment and then be a total jerk every time the truck gets out of alignment until eventually they figure out the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

I would rotate my tires and see if the problem persists.

this seems like a pretty solid plan. you're gonna have to buy 2 new tires anyway. buying them through the dealer might cost a couple bucks more, but it puts the onus on them to figure out the problem.

Out of curiosity, how can you tell it’s out of alignment after a couple of weeks? Is it pulling really badly?

Yes. If I take my hands off it tries to drive off the road. I try to take the pitch of the road into account, but even on flat roads, the wheel is probably 25 or 30 degrees off center to go straight.
