    Hello!

I've landed on a specific 2024 build[1] that I've shared with several dealerships in my area.

The feedback I got was they would need to submit a preference build instead, and even then there's no guarantee I'll get exactly what I'm looking for.

In the meantime I've been using Toyota's Inventory Search and setting the zip code to locations across neighboring states - no dice yet...

So my question is - do I order a preference build with my local dealer, wait months, and hope that I get what I'm after - or - do I just keep searching about to see if I get lucky with a dealer getting my build in store? What's been your experiences? Perhaps I'm just being too picky?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    [1] my build -
    2024 Tundra Platinum
    i-FORCE MAX V6 Hybrid 4-Wheel Drive
    CrewMax / 5.5ft
    Lunar Rock
PACKAGE: 3” Lift Kit + Head-Up Display + TRD Off-Road ($6,700) (these options can be ordered individually too in some US regions it seems)

Will you order spare bearings for the reciprocating assembly?

Don't they throw a pack in with every new purchase?

No joke autotrader is how I found the last three Toyota’s I got, show up at the dealer like I don’t know what’s there even though I was looking for a very specific combination that only exists at that lot. Stuff is slowing down so inventory should be a little better.

I don’t think they use them folks no more.

Good advice - if I end up flying to a dealer across the country, probably best not to turn up in an Uber straight from the airport with my carry-on trying to act like I just dropped by :D

I actually looked over their inventory - seems like they've got some new stock in as you mentioned, but not quite what I'm after. Appreciate the recommendation though.

How long have you been looking?
Basically you're just looking for a lunar rock max with 3in lift and Trd package.

It may show up somewhere... Just check the Toyota inventory page around different zip codes around few states with 500 mile radius. May take a few months or so.

By the way, I haven't seen many platinums with the 3 inch lift installed yet. Maybe saw one so far... So it's possible that they haven't yet began installing the 3in kit for the platinum yet and only limited... They'll get there eventually, just wait

You can also try to have dealer submit request for you... Shouldn't hurt

I'm not in a hurry but it is tough to find exactly what you want.
White SR5 with convenience and offroad packages. Maybe advanced offraod package.
Option 2 but I would have to get a really good deal from a dealer is...Limited Offroad package
There is one around me but it has been reserved. Since price is an issue you know I'm NOT traveling for one.

Hey @Kap1 I've been looking for a couple of weeks - so not long. IIUC, the TRD package is new for 2024 on the Platinum, so I suspect you're right in that being a new option they're probably not ramped up yet / getting orders, etc.

I did find one exact match here - but it had just sold, so I do know it's possible and there's at least one in the country :)

I'll probably end up taking both avenues - dealer preference build order and looking about just in case something lands sooner.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I was thinking about whether it's worth it to fly out - especially if you're looking at 1,000+ miles. Flight, hotel(s), gas, mileage on the new truck, and maybe time off work too. Then dealing with home state registration and tax payment.

But then I thought what a way to break in your new truck with a road trip, heck I might even take the family and make it a mini vacation :)

Good luck in your search @Blitz79

Actually, according to the manual, a long road trip isn't a good way to break-in the engine. It specifically says to avoid high speeds and long periods of driving at the same speed for the first 1000 miles. Some folks may disagree, but that's what Toyota recommends.

Oh, interesting - thanks for flagging that @Matt2015Tundra - makes sense that you want to fully exercise all the mechanical parts that are engaged at varying speeds, get them lubricated properly and so on. If I end up doing a flight and drive back, then maybe a solution would be to factor some back road driving too.
