Can anyone identify this noise/tick?

Random Ticking Noise From Passenger Side 2018 Tundra 5.7L
    https://youtu.be/1JE9JMZ_by8

I posted this about a week ago but I took some better video and was hoping to get some ideas before I bring it in for service. The noise is random at idle but around 1500 rpms, it gets more pronounced. The truck runs strong and seems fine but this noise is driving me nuts.
These are a few things I’ve done to the truck:

    AFE dry drop in filter
    Corsa cat back exhaust
Recent oil change to Amsoil XL 0w20.

    Thanks in advance everyone!

Sounds similar to what my cummins used to do. Turned out to be the belt slapping because the clutch on the AC was going out. It'd jam up a little bit and the belt would bunch and skip making a ticking sound.

What about when your A/C was off? Is the condenser still doing something?

Yup. Because it still had to turn as the belt went over it and the clutch was going it made the slap no matter what. If it's your belt slapping then it could be anything that the belt runs over. Can't definitively say it's the belt, and I am no mechanic, but that was the only thing I've experienced that sounded like that.

Thanks for the info. I’m gonna take a look on at side of the bay. Maybe I’ll be able to narrow it down a bit.

Anything is at this point :rofl:I hate going to the dealer.

I just remembered that I had a dent PDR removed and the guy took the hood insulation pad thing off He dropped one of the clips into that part of the engine bay so maybe that what’s causing the noise. I just don’t see a piece of plastic would still be in the engine bay 3 weeks later rattling around at different rpms.

If it were more of a rattle than a tick I might have though it was the bolts on the side of the glove box. I saw a video somewhere and the owner found the bolts were loose and making a rattle. He had to pop the panel off the side that gets covered by the passenger door to get to them.

Honestly, yours doesn't sound like a rattle to me, though.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s a rattle either. I wonder if I should dump the Amsoil and put something else in.

You said that you put on a corsa exhaust. Did you use new gaskets? There might be a slight exhaust leak at the flanges, maybe double check that they are all sealed and tight. Or maybe a loose heat shield.

I just got in a mechanic stethoscope yesterday so I’m gonna do some investigating with that in the next day or 2. I did use new gaskets with the Corsa and retorqued after 500 miles. I will also check that again but the noise doesn’t seem to be coming from there.

Not yet. I had to delay my appointment at the dealer till the 2nd week of August because work has been crazy and I haven’t been able to get the truck there.

I did disconnect my Sprint Booster and I switched to 93 octane and the noise did seem to quiet down a bit and it now happens a lot less often. I’m sitting in the parking lot at work now just idling and it’s not making the noise at all.

Curious: is your truck still under factory warranty?

Have you checked you cabin air filter? It’s in that area & worth a look. Could. Be some debris in there.
