My differential decided to give out on me today, i saw a post on here along time ago talking about putting a t100 differential on a 2006 tundra double cab for better towing but does anyone know if it would work out or if it’s even a good idea

I think that the t100 and taco/4runner have the 8inch diff. I’m not certain, but I believe the tundra has a bigger diff. The tundra dbl cab is a different vehicle than lb/ac tundras. I’m fairly sure the t100 is going to be narrower than your tundra. Are you having problems with the current rear differential?

What is the full issue with the current rear axle?

Any diff out of a DC, AC, RC, or sequioa will fit in there. What ratio you looking for?

T100 axle is the same width as the Tundra axle, but does have an 8” ring gear third in it. Not directly compatible with the Tundra, and not an upgrade. Toyota 8.4” thirds will work, but are not all created equal. Easiest route is to stick with Tundra and same gear ratio if 4x4 (you didn’t say what you have) or choose the ratio of choice if 2wd. There are some pinion flange variations, so confirm or be prepared to swap as needed.
