Juts finished dewinterizing and prepping camper (2017 Rpod 180) for the season. Went to extend the slide out and no movement. The slide out module is a Lippert 13398-d0 part number. I get I green blink (indicates motor 1; 4 red lights following indicates “high battery voltage” error). I can do the manual override of the module - 6 presses of the button and holding 7th causes led to flash and I can operate the slide for two minutes. Once that times out it goes back to not working and I have to do the manual reset.

the fuse is 30 amps and has continuity. I forgot to measure the voltage (will do that tomorrow when I am back at the camper). I unhooked the battery and had it on shore power but still didn’t work properly. All wires look to be intact with no pinching or breaks.

I have researched and it seems like it could be a battery issue (battery was new in 5/24) and has been plugged into shore power at the place I keep it for for duration of the winter. I am wondering if the facility has stable power or perhaps spiked to compromise battery.
Anyone know where I can start to troubleshoot? I suppose I can keep using the override but am afraid if that fails that I would be screwed.

full disclosure, there was a very minor leak from the slide out where a bit of water got in and I guess it’s possible that it shorted the module - but would the manual override still work if that was the case? Just looking for a bit of advice from someone who may have had a similar issue. Thanks in advance.

Just finished troubleshooting and cleaning it up for the season……turns out the battery was bad. Replaced the battery, reset the module and everything works as normal.

I was thinking it was going to be a battery issue.

I've ran into this issue as well. I've found when hooked to shore power and the battery maintainer is operational, the inverter puts too much power to the battery charger. This causes the battery to overcharge and vent off too much battery fluid and the batteries go dry and become junk.

I just charge the battery fully at the end of the season and turn off the entire system.

The RV industry has never been accused of using the highest quality electronics for battery charging.

Yeah I think it was exactly that. I thought by keeping it plugged in for the winter it would maintain the battery but starting to think I should disconnect shore power now. We will be using it enough now that I don’t think it will fully discharge and will charge while underway and at campgrounds.

I was also thinking of installing a battery voltmeter with shunt…….any experience using those or thoughts about them?
