    Hey Y’all. First post!

I have a gen 1 V8 regular cab long bed. I’m looking for a pop up camper, and Four Wheel Camper seems to rise to the top. Their Granby is fit for a long bed, but when I messaged about a used 2007 model, it appears to be 1-2” too wide! Say it ain’t so! Are Granbys always too large for gen 1s, or does it vary by Granby year? If it’s not a fit, does anyone have another camper suggestion that is 1) light, 2) off-roadable, and 3) fit for our Tundras? Thx!

You dont say if they make or made one for the 1st gen trucks in the first place?

Your own pics seem to tell the story for me?

If the Top is 60" and you dont use the tailgate with it then the top mounts behind the 2" narrow width spot anyway and there is no issue?

Your dimensions look to be for the space between the vertical ribs that the tailgate closes against and ot of the wider space that the tailgate fits into?

Remove the latches for the tailgate which is unused anyway and BAM!

My shell mounts to the rear of those vertical ribs where the tailgate actually sits.

Or I dont understand exactly what you are saying which is certainly possible too?

I will try to get pics of mine later to illustrate better.

Sorry for the slow reply, life got in the way. The problem is that the vertical ribs that the tailgate mounts to are < 60" (which is the width of the camper). So instead of "slide in" camper, you'd have a "drop in", dopped behind those ribs...and that's definitely not how they are typically loaded into a truck bed. I think it would be challenging to line it up correctly vs. a typical slide in.

This is my first truck and first camper, so I'm not expert. But I'd love to find a camper that is a little narrower that mates to a gen 1 Tunda more easily .... or maybe somehow has purchased a Granby for their Tundra and tell me how they got it in.

See this pic...there's a pretty good amount of space behind the wheel-well where the camper is at maximum width. Kind of wondering what would happen if I took an angle grinder to those ribs and just removed them, then I could slide it right in!
