New to the forum. I'm replacing my truck with a 2023 Tundra and I'll need to remove the tailgate to accommodate a camper. CameraSource.com is my go-to place for backup cameras and they have nothing for the 2023 Tundra and have nothing in the works. Neither do two others I contacted. They said they don't have a plug compatible with the Tundra tailgate camera connector.

On my F150 I disconnect the camera connector under the truck and just plug in the camper-mounted camera. Might there be something special about Tundra connectors that the after-market vendors can't handle?

    Thanks!

Thanks, korslite! I searched before posting and did not find any of that. Glad others are on the case...

You bet. I reached out to camera source last spring when I was first putting our camper on the new truck and I got the same response from them. I think some have just gone with the aftermarket wireless RV camera/monitors. I just use mirrors and pretend it's the "old days".

It's one of the worries I have when I install a rear tire mount. I'll lose the tailgate backup camera. I'm certainly used to the old days of backing up with mirrors only, but with a bed cap installed too...the backup cam is a nice-to-have.

Definitely nice to have. I actually had the anytime backup camera setup on the last tundra so I could see behind my camper and check on the bikes on the rack or other reasons. I don't care enough to run a standalone monitor though. Someone will come up with an aftermarket option when there is enough demand. Toyota will use this currently new camera setup for the next 15 years if history is any indication.
