Hey all! I am looking to start building my tundra here soon and wanted to know if anyone could give me some pointers on the camburg 2.5 lift and the boss toytec lift. Im trying to decide which route to go to benefit me and my truck.

What is your overall goal for the truck? Are you planning on wheeling it or just going for looks?

A little bit of both worlds. I've been looking at the overall construction of the front coils of both manufacturers and the one thing I've noticed is the lower end of the boss coils are much smaller and look frail to me compared to the larger base on the fox coil. I have seen and heard a few war stories about the toytec coil breaking at the base joint. but toytec offers more with the kit like diff drop, rear lift, and spanner wrench.

Gotcha, well those are 2 different worlds of comparison honestly.
The BOSS coilovers are a 2.0 coilover and the FOX's are a 2.5.
The BOSS brand coilovers are designed for the daily driver/ weekend warrior style driver that are a non- rebuildable coilover that is relatively a maintenance free coilover system. We did a double zinc coated shock body and a larger shock shaft to increase corrosion resistance when comparing to other brands along with valving them specifically for the Tundra.

The FOX stuff is, again, a 2.5 coilover that will require you to eventually have them taken back off the vehicle and sent in for a rebuild which could potentially leave your vehicle compromised for "X" amount of time it takes for rebuild along with a little more maintenance required to insure proper life span of the coilovers.

Yes coilovers break, it all boils down to how you treat/ respect your vehicle is how it will respond back. I have seen ICON, KINGS, FOX, RADFLO all break before. Its nothing to do with the design flaw its just extensive abuse.

and honestly im not looking to beat my truck up on the weekends and crawl with the rig but I do want something that will give me the lift im after and performance as well. if I were to go with the Boss lift package, how would you rate that and the lifespan on that . My version of going off-road is mainly to get to fishing locations on a logging trail. (nothing major) just deep ruts and the occasional rock to maneuver around or over.

Honestly its hard to say a life span of a shock/ coilover system.. It all boils down to climate, maintenance, and overall use.. My boss/ owner was running the same BOSS kit on his Tundra for about 4-5 years now. @T-Rex266 has been running his for quite a long time now without any issues too.

@csuviper is running our Toytec BOSS Performance kit now for a few years and he has been offroad quite a bit with it with no real signs of any wear..

The perfect answer! Thank you T-rex266. What is your wheel combo and did you do the BMC?
