New member here. Never owned a tundra but considering a 2015 sr5 with 160k. Seller just had to replace the timing chain tensioner. Is this a red flag that maybe the oil wasn’t changed regularly? He said he changes every 6k with mobil1. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The timing chain tensioner seems to be a thing with a lot of 5.7 L . Nothing to really worry about .
Welcome to the forum by the way .

    Too many, but not enough....
Tensioner itself wouldn't worry me but the quality of the work sealing everything up would.

Mine was bought at 166,xxx. Drove like new with extensive service history. Completely dry underneath. I looked at a few prettier, but in the end service history and drove like new won. At 185,xxx all I have done is service and install a set of tires and 5100s. If you drive that one and feel the same, I would not feel hesitant. The price needs to be reasonable.

I bought my 07 with 213,000 on the odometer. Now at 256,000+. I wouldn't worry about it. JMO though.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up passing on it, mainly because of the price. I’ll keep looking.
