I was recently involved in a mild collision and had my rear bumper replaced. I picked my truck up from the body shop and noticed these massive gaps on both sides between the body and bumper. Does anyone know if this can be adjusted? Any opinions/input is appreciated.

Both sides are like that? Did they use a non oem bumper or something? If both sides are that way, you can’t just slide it over.

Passenger side is the same. Invoice shows all OEM parts

A good shop will be happy to pull it back in and tweak it. Good shops are few and far between these days.

ETA The factory gaps are pretty big and variable so look at a couple other trucks and be sure you’re not just noticing something that’s always been there.

Every tundra I’ve looked since I’ve picked mine up is not nearly as severe. Is this something that can be “tweaked”?

Looks a bit wide to me. I can just tick my adult fingers in between the body and cap, with bumpershellz on my end cap.

If in doubt, stop by a dealership and compare to ones on the lot.

Yeah. There’s slop in the bumper brackets that mount to the hitch. The hard part is getting the step pads off without breaking tabs. The bolt heads are underneath. If the just need to swing straight in it can be as simple as pushing on them firmly. Careful not to push hard enough to hit the bed.

This can be done without disassembling all of the bumper components? Thanks for your help

The step pads and caps mount to stamped metal brackets that are pretty flimsy. Those bolt to the trailer hitch assembly that bolts to the frame. If you’re patient and handy with a pry tool and some long pliers the step pads come straight up exposing the bracket bolts underneath. Crawl underneath and look up to see the plastic tabs poking through. A few are tough to reach. I believe there are a couple push clips behind the license plate too. Also the license lamp housings will need disconnected to fully remove the center portion.

If you just had it repaired.....do NOT go messing around with it yourself.

Take it back and tell them to do it right.
