I need some help removing bulb shields. I bought these super nice LED DRL headlights for my 2006 Tundra and I also bought LED mini projector headlight bulbs for them. Preferably I’d like to remove the bulb shields so the mini projectors would work and look nice, when I went to remove them they don’t fit back through the bulb hole. I next thought I would bake the headlights (like retrofitting them) and remove the lens but the lens glue didn’t melt and it seems to not be glued on but JB Welded on instead. I’m not sure how else I can remove the bulb shields and I’d really appreciate it if anyone could give me trips or tricks. Thanks

Long Needle nose pliers and just keep crushing it by folding it in half. Happen to me, try not to break the spring clip that holds the bulb down

I used tin snips to cut the reflector up with the tips of the the hole but you need to be very careful not to crack the plastic tabs on the bulb housing hole while doing so.

It’s much easier to accomplish if you have the tab to hold onto; cut the large part of the reflector umbrella, and remove it. Whatever you do, and I repeat because so many have screwed up this way, DO NOT crack the plastic tabs around the bulb hole. Take your time, be patient. It’ll all come out. Fold it, crush it, cut it, anything to make it small enough to come back out the hole. If you haven’t watched the YouTube video in the upgrade thread. Stop everything and go watch it.

What Shifty said and I found it easier to unscrew the bulb retainer spring before cutting the shields.
