So I have two tpms sensors that have broken valve cores..they work you just can’t unscrew them out since the part where the tool to unscrew them is broken. I tried to use easy outs to get them out but didn’t work I messed up the threads…I took out the sensor but it looks like it’s a one piece and I can’t just change out the stem. Does does sound right or should I be able to take them out in two pieces? And replace stem

also I see new sensors on eBay claim to be oem some are for $67 ish and same for $150ish. are tpms on the big counterfeit list for Toyota?

EDIT: I wonder if I can tape on the rim and put a regular valve stem? Hmm I have access to a tire machine and balancer so wouldn’t cost me anything but my time

    TIA,
    Yours truly..Cesar

The OEM sensors are not that expensive. Most aftermarket sensors don't work. The sensors are usually one piece. The only thing that usually comes off is the outside sleeve that tightens down to the wheel.

Not sure on the fraud rate for TPMS sensors but in general, unless you can verify the seller is a dealer.. my experience has been that it is safe to assume any auto part on eBay is a cheap Chinese knock-off.

Dang I was afraid of that. How much do OEM ones run? I see some that say preprogrammed does that mean I just stick them in and it’s good?

Will my sensor work if I cut off the stem and tape it around the rim like a band style sensor?or does it detect pressure by the valve stem?

I wouldn't risk it. They are cheap enough from the dealer.

OEM Toyota sensors are made by Pacific and may be labeled as Denso. So get the Pacific/Denso version as it is identical and cheaper than going through Toyota.
