I drive a 2019 tundra TRD crewmax. It's happened a few times and I cant find out what it means. Between the RPMs and the speedometer it is a big solid red square and says BRAKE! in the middle. Truck has 400 miles on it. It comes on then goes right off. It has only happened 2 or 3 times and it is when I'm cruising around 45 mph. Nothing other than that happens when it comes on.

    Someone help me!!!
    Thanks

That's the forward collision warning system.
The sensor thinks you're about to hit something and is telling you to brake. Take it back to the dealer and they should be able to fix it; a few other members on here have complained of a similar issue.

typically the false alarms I've seen are when the road is poorly marked and significantly curves or climbs up/down, so if it's normal driving on a well-marked road you might want to have it looked at/calibrated

Mine comes on only when I'm approaching a vehicle in front of me when it senses I'm to close and I didn't apply the brake. Love it Never had false warnings

Welcome from Arizona. As others have mentioned, the warning being displayed is generated by the pre collision system. The system thinks that the truck needs to brake in order to avoid a collision. If you're getting the warnings on a straight road with no other traffic around, your system may need to be updated with either a software update or a sensor replacement. Several of the members on here have experienced problems that needed to be corrected by the dealership. The sensitivity of the system is user adjustable and the owners manual also advises to turn the system off during certain types of road and driving conditions.

You should only see this if the PCS detects that you are approaching an object too fast and there is an eminent collision about to happen. If you are under a certain speed the PCS will apply the brakes and bring the vehicle to a complete stop. If over a certain speed it will only display the warning so that you can apply the brakes. I don't recall exactly but the speed is somewhere between 20 and 30 MPH.

If you leveled the truck (lifted it) it could be part of the problem and needs recalibration. A cool service writer / tech would do it under warranty. However if they notice it's been modified they can charge you for the labor/time to do it. Last I heard it can cost up to $250. So in that case, go in, complain it's been acting weird and play dumb.

I’ve only had two false alarms in 13000/8 mos. they were both in strange driving conditions, but with no vehicle in front of me, not even in the oncoming lane.

It makes me wonder what the system is ‘taught’ to look for.

    Factory height/suspension (for now)

Give it a chance to learn. It will have a few false alarms for 4000 some miles. Also it could be your driving habits. I know when I’m rushing somewhere the brake alarm will come on.

Been lucky with mine. I'm at around 5k miles, owned it 5 months now; I've only had BRAKE come up once, and it was justified.
