I just replaced my front brake rotors and pads from the original OEM to Powerstop Evolution rotors and Z36 pads on our 2015 Tundra. Unfortunately, I have brake squeaking. Braking seems fine.

On install, I cleaned everything up as best I could, then used Permatex Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant on the pads and on the pad pins. Everything went back just like it should, including a new pad spring and pad retention pin. I used the shims Powerstop has attached to the back of the pads but did NOT use the OEM shims.

I then bedded in the new pads. Squeaking went down but not gone.

I contacted PS on the issue and they suggested that I:

    1. Recheck all the hardware.
    2. Check/re-lube the pad pins.
    3. Repeat the bed in process.
I did that and even went so far as to, not only clean and re-lube the pad pins, but also pulled the pads and re-lubed the back of the pads. The pads seem somewhat quieter but they still squeak, especially when cold (it goes down or away when the brakes seem to get hot). Nothing seems to be sticking or out of place when I inspected everything.

I'm at a loss right now. I've done brake jobs on various cars and motorcycles and have never had this issue outside of the Tundra. The only other thought that I could come up with is to remove the Powerstop shim and replace it with the OEM shims.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Any chance you found the problem? I have the same issue and it’s driving me crazy!!! I went over my brakes again today and still squeaks at low speed stops.

Breaks squeaks are generally brake pads vibrating. That's why floating calipers like the rear brakes have hardware the pads sit on to take up space. Adding more Lube isn't always the answer. The rotor could have been machined poorly and it's grabbing the pad. You can buy a product from any parts store, it looks like a can of spray paint. It's an anti-squeak spray that u put on the back of the pad. You let it dry for a few minutes and it's very sticky. It allows the pad to stick inside the caliper against the pistons. If you are still having issues I'd reccomend having the rotors machined. We had a lot of issues for a while with rotors. We stared turning all new rotors before we installed them. We were finding as much as twenty thousandth of runout on brand new rotors. We were getting come backs because of squeaks. This stopped it. Good luck.

I’m also having a squeak, heard mostly while turning off and on highway ramps.
But I’m also having shaking over 60mph as well as a tight brake pedal.
Does this sound like a loose pad or a stuck caliper? Advice? Thanks

I have a squeak but it only happens when im almost going to stop the brakes and rotors are brand new bit it only happens when in doing like 10km/h or slower while i hold to brakes gently to slow down other than that no other time i brought it back and was told its just brake dust collecting because it looks fine...

Have any of you figured out the cause of your issues or did it go away? A few weeks ago I installed the Power Stop z36 pads. The first week they were great, then the front passenger wheel started to squeak a lot. Now for the past couple weeks the front passenger wheel squeaks (almost metal on metal sound) whenever I brake or turn the wheel to the right. I have had 2 mechanics look at it, and have replaced the pads and still have the squeak. Power stop is sending me a new rotor and I am going to replace the caliper as well. I am stumped as to what the cause is. I have taken that wheel off countless times the past few weeks and cannot find anything wrong. Hoping maybe a new rotor and caliper will fix the issue. None of my other wheels have any issue. And it is driving me nuts, it is super loud whenever I brake or turn wheel to right.

I have never had good luck with powerstop, used them twice on different vehicles and they always squeaked. I would return them and get some Centric (stoptech) cryo or high carbon rotors and Akebono pads.
