Brake service?

Ok, so I do some work on my truck. Oil, diffs, transmission fluid, coolant change, stereo, lift etc. Nothing huge like opening up an engine.

Does anyone here do a "brake service"? Like pull off the rotor and lube pins etc?

Just wondering if I have been neglectful here.....

My wife's subaru has a brake shudder and they will not do anything under warranty as I've not been servicing the brakes.

If you live where they salt the ELH out of the roads, some experts say annual service (cleaning and lubing) after the thaw is essential to braking reliability and longevity. Ask them to lube the Subaru pins (on your dime) and see if that helps. If it doesn't help, ask them to do a rotor face runout test using a micrometer. FWIW, you should rotate your own tires and torque the lug nuts uniformly to spec.

Bottom line, they're probably going to skate on the shudder. Maintenance of your brakes is not their warranty responsibility (their position). If they don't want to make it right, they're not going to help you. Take this into consideration when you choose your next vehicle.

Sounds like an easy weekend job. Pull the tires and maybe throw some rotors on it. Clean everything up and your done..

 

Since you are talking about brakes, have you looked the at the Frozen Rotors and Yellow Stuff Pads offered by Dirty Deeds Industries? The only thing Keith trusts to stop his truck with his HEAVY foot .
