I need to replace my rotors and was debating on replacing pads at the same time. I have always liked Hawk pads but wasn't sure if there was something better like the TRD pads? I'm ok with a bit of dusting as long as it is not brutal. I do tow a 5000 lb trailer once or twice a month as well as a ton of junk in the bed at the same time. My last trip to Santa Cruz thru the hills destroyed my rotors. I am not a fan of drilled slotted as you always get the GGGtrrrrrrrrrt noise on hard brake application. I will be doing High Carbon steel rotors woth no slots / drilling. Your opinion on pads? Thanks!

I like that they highlighted things that actually matter. (Being in the biz I caught them) as I always say there is a big difference between "swapping out a set of pads" and installing pads correctly. They did it correctly.

I often run into people that say "Ah, I've been doing this for 20 years". My reply to that is this: "That doesn't mean you've been doing it correctly".

I have used EBC brakes on my last two cars. I used the red stuff because it doesn’t put out all the brake dust like the green stuff. Paired with slotted rotors I have gotten a nice firm pedal with great stopping distance and life of the pads and rotors.

Sorry, completely off topic, but do you really own GNX #6? If so, congrats to you, sir! A GNX is one of my dream cars as my dad conditioned me into liking Buicks growing up (plus I was born in 1987 also). He had an '86 Regal T-Type, and also has a '69 GS convertible and a '70 GSX Stage 1. I know this thread isn't a great place, but I'd love to see a pic of #6 if you do indeed have it!

over the years Ive installed a lot of so called high performance brakes at my shop for people that they requested. from what ive seen your better off either just buying factory pads and rotors at the dealer of aftermarket wise best you can get is napa premium rotors and their top end pads.

    Not nearly enough room here!
My Mechanic assures me I'll see 90,000 miles from my stock pads and rotors. If that happens, I see no reason to buy aftermarket brakes when replacement time comes. Dust is minimal and braking is quiet. I haven't priced OEM Brakes so I guess it may depend on how "proud" Toyota is of 'em.

I run stoptech street pads on all my vehicles. Have not changed them on the tundra though, too new.
